KANGAN — Taking full advantage of the situation arising out of COVID-19 pandemic, smugglers are looting a compartment in Sindh Forest Division at will.

This has been happening despite the official claims of preserving forests. The forest department has failed to act against smugglers who are cutting down trees for timber in the Sindh Forest Division of central Kashmir.

“The smugglers are wandering in forests with saws and axes. They are cutting down trees openly from the past few weeks which is very unfortunate,” local residents said.

They accused officials of the forest division of being “hand-in-glue” with the timber smugglers.
