Srinagar: The Chief Judicial Magistrate Sopore Friday granted bail to a local girl arrested by police last week on charges of militancy.
After police filed fresh report stating non-involvement and insufficient evidence against Qurat-ul-Ain, the CJM Sopore Kounser Ahmed Qureshi ordered her release. She was arrested by Sopore police for her alleged involvement in an IED attack on Sopore police station on July 10. However the family rebutted police allegations, saying that police was trying to implicate her.
Qurat’s arrest had evoked widespread condemnation across the board with Hurriyat Conference (G) calling for protests in the Apple town. Qurat, who completed her graduation in 2010, was scheduled to get married with her cousin today.
