Srinagar Police presents challan against militants in TADA Court

SRINAGAR — Police in a statement on Tuesday said that on February 02, 2020 at about 12:50 PM, “some unknown militants hurled a grenade upon CRPF personnel, with the intention to kill them, who were deployed near Sumo Stand, Pratap Park Srinagar.”

“The grenade exploded with a bang and caused injuries to seven civilians and two CRPF personnel of 171 Bn. Police Station Kothibagh took cognizance of the incident and registered case FIR No. 10/2020 U/S 307 IPC R/W 3/5 Exp. Subs. Act, 23 ULA (P) Act and investigation taken up, as envisaged under Section 23 of ULA (P) Act. Case has been professionally investigated by taking help of modern technical tools.”

“Following the proceedings and technical evidences, three militants were found involved in the attack who subsequently were apprehended along with other evidence on 06.02.2020 within record period of time i.e, 04 days from the date of incident. All the trio terrorists were found affiliated with JeM, a banned militant outfit.”

“They were tasked to carry out more grenade attacks at different places of Srinagar City, most probably in Lal Chowk area on the directions of mentors across in order to disturb the integrity and sovereignty of the nation and to sabotage the peace and public order so as to induce terror among the general public.”

“Prima facie case established under above mentioned offences against three terrorists and accordingly, the case has been challaned before Hon’ble Court of Addl. District and Session Judge TADA/POTA on 29-06-2020 for judicial determination.”
