Teenage boy drowns to death in Anantnag

ANANTNAG — A 14-year-old boy drowned in Brengi Nallah at Irkumoo area of Kokernag in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Sunday evening.

Officials said that Aaquib Fayaz, 14, son of Fayaz Ahmad of Irkumoo Kokernag slipped into the Nallah and drowned subsequently.

Soon after the news spread, the locals gathered at the spot while teams of police and local administration immediately started an operation to retrieve his body, they said.

Meanwhile, the family and neighbours immediately removed him to nearby Sub District Hospital (SDH) where from he was referred to GMC Anantnag. However, doctors at the hospital declared him brought dead.

A police officer also confirmed the death of the boy.
