SRINAGAR — Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday said that three persons providing support to an active militant of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen have been arrested n Heff village of south Kashmir’s Shopian district.
A statement, issued here, reads that acting on a credible input, Police and security forces today launched a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in Heff area of district Shopian.
“During the searches in the area, Police recovered incriminating materials including huge quantity of arms and ammunition from the possession of two persons identified as Mohd Shameem Bhat @ Shahid and Zubair Ahmed Padder, both residents of Heff Shopian,” police said.
Police said during the investigations, they revealed about more arms and ammunition dumped in nearby orchards and accordingl, police was able to recover arms and ammunition from the nearby orchards.
Officers during the course of investigation also learnt about another individual identified as Bilal Ahmad Teli of Heff and subsequently police recovered arms, ammunition and other incriminating materials from his possession also.
Police during the course of investigation, was able to trace a hideout in the orchards of Heff village, the statement added.
“All the three persons have been arrested and remain in custody. As per the investigations, they are linked to militant outfit HM and were providing support to active militant Feroz Dar of HM outfit operating in the area,” police said.
Police have registered a case under FIR number 08/2020 under relevant sections of law in this regard. Further investigation in the matter is in progress.
