HANDWARA — Three troopers killed in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district today have been identified.
A police official said that 7 troopers were injured when militants attacked a patrolling party from 92 Battalion in Wangam Qaziabad area of Handwara. Three troopers were killed while others were hospitalised. The condition of one of the troopers is critical.
He identified the slain troopers as Constable Santosh Mishra, Constable Chandra Shekhar and Constable Ashwani Kumar Yadav.
A civilian, identified as Hazim Shafi Bhat (14) of Khaipora, Handwara, reportedly mentally unsound, was also killed in the shootout.
