SRINAGAR — Jammu and Kashmir Police have booked two “notorious” drug peddlers from Budgam district of central Kashmir under the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA) as part of its drive to curb the menace of drug abuse in the Valley.

A police officer said that Zubair Ahmad Dar son of Noorullah of Nagam and Abdul Hameed Rather son of Abdul Gani Rather of Hussipora arrested last week along with large quantity of drugs were booked under relevant sections of the NDPS Act in Police Station Chadoora.

Both the persons were arrested several times following recovery of large quantity of contraband substance from their possession, the officer said.

The duo is notorious as drug peddlers and as such were booked under the Public Safety Act, the officer said.

While Zubair was shifted to district jail Kupwara, Abdul Hameed to district jail Anantnag for lodgment.

“The drive against the growing menace in the district will continue and the stringent action will be taken against anyone found involved in the drug peddling”, the officer said.
