Two LeT militants killed in Kulgam: J-K Police

SRINAGAR — Two militants of LeT militant outfit were killed in an encounter that broke out in Redwani village of Kulgam district late last night, police said here on Thursday.

According to a statement, issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS), acting on a specific input regarding the presence of militants in Redwani, a joint cordon and search operation was launched by Police, 1st RR and 18Bn CRPF.

“During the search operation, as the presence of militants got ascertained, they were given repeated opportunities to surrender; however, they fired indiscriminately upon the joint search party which was retaliated, leading to an encounter,” the statement said.

It reads that in the ensuing encounter, militants of LeT (TRF) outfit were killed and their bodies were retrieved from the site of encounter.

the statement said, “They have been identified as Amir Bashir Dar, resident of Kujjar Frisal and Adil Yousuf Shan, resident of Sursano Hatipora, Kulgam. They were also part of groups involved in several crime cases including attacks on security forces and civilian atrocities.”

It reads that the police have registered a case under relevant sections of law and investigation has been initiated.

Meanwhile, IGP Kashmir appreciated the role of police and security forces for evacuation of civilians, especially during night hours, who were trapped inside the cordon and for conducting successful operation without any collateral damage.
