J&K Police chase away protestors in Kashmir

SRINAGAR — An under trial ‘Over Ground Worker (OGW) of militants’ fled from Srinagar court on Tuesday afternoon.

Reports reaching here said that Ishfaq Ahmad Rah of Qaimoh Kulgam was being brought to Srinagar court from sub-jail Mattan for judicial remand when he managed to escape.

A police officer said that the OGW managed to escape from the court premises and a manhunt has been launched to nab him.

Police Version:

An accused who was arrested in case FIR No. 73/2018 of police station Qazigund escaped from the police custody while he was being produced before District Court Srinagar from Mattan jail.

He has been identified as Ishfaq Ahmad Rah son of Abdul Rashid Rah resident of Kulgam.

Earlier, he was involved in many other cases including case FIR No. 37/2018 registered in District Kulgam.

Police have registered a case under relevant sections of law in this regard. Searches are being made to trace the accused person.
