Srinagar: Calling for a complete shutdown on January 26, Chairman People’s Political Party (PPP), Engineer Hilal Ahmad War, Monday claimed that India had no right to celebrate its Republic Day in Kashmir.
“Government of India has been denying the Right of Self-Determination to the oppressed people of Kashmir which has been guaranteed by United Nations and even promised by India ’s first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru in Parliament and in historical Lal Chowk. Therefore India has no moral justification to celebrate its Republic Day while she has been violating the human rights and denying the fundamental rights of the 14 million people of J&K,” War said in a statement.
“ India must not forget that the Kashmir issue has assumed the shape of a international conflict and the intervention of US and China is unavoidable and in accordance with golden principles of United Nations charter in order to maintain international peace and security. These nations including European Union know that the gateway of world peace is the resolution of Kashmir tangle,” he claimed.
Paying tributes to the martyrs of January 25, 1990 Handwara massacre and January 27, 1994 Kupwara massacre, he appealed people in these areas to observe complete shutdown on the two dates respectively.
