
SRINAGAR — A strong wind and hailstorm uprooted trees and caused damage to orchards and fresh fruits in Shadab Khrew area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Friday evening.
Locals said that fresh fruits and standing crops were damaged and a number of trees were uprooted after windstorm struck the area.
Following the wind and hailstorm, power supply was also snapped due to the breaking of poles and cables.
They said that strong winds also caused damage to many residential houses.
Windstorm also caused damage to some shops in Charar-e-Sharif area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
MeT has predicted intermittent rainfall on 26 and 27 of this month.
