Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman Mohammad Yasin Malik Thursday announced unification of two factions of the JKLF led by him and Amanullah Khan.
Addressing a press conference at JKLF Headquarters in Maisuma, Malik said, “Unification of all the pro-freedom groups of Jammu and Kashmir across LoC has become inevitable. To take the freedom movement to its logical conclusion, unity has become inevitable.”
“The reason for which freedom movement was started in 1998 demands that we unite,” he added.
He appealed all the separatists groups to unite and take the freedom movement to its logical conclusion. “People want that pro-freedom groups should unite and formulate a joint strategy to move forward. Division among separatist groups has damaged our cause,” Malik said.
The JKLF chairman termed death of National Conference worker Syed Mohammad Yosuf Yousuf, as unfortunate. But he was quick to add that where were those people, who are raising hue and cry about the issue, when 118 Kashmiri youth were killed in 2010 unrest.
“The death of the NC worker is unfortunate and it should be probed. We have no problem with national media being concerned about his (NC worker’s) death but I want to ask them why they don’t show the same concern for other issues,” Malik said.
Malik said that JKLF would hold a protest rally in Sopore on Friday against the decision of hanging of Afzal Guru, unmarked graves and killing of 118 youth in last year’s summer unrest.
Meanwhile, the unity decision was taken after Unity Facilitation Committee which comprised four members from both the sides, held number of meetings to finalize the modalities since its formation on August 12.
The members included Adv. Sardar Sageer Ahmed, Hafiz Anwar Samavi, Master S M Afzal and Manzoor Ahmed Khan from Ammanullah Khan group and Adv M Sabir Ansari, Khuwaja Pervez Iqbal, Muhammad Rafiq Dar and Adv. Bashir Ahmed Butt from Yasin Malik group.
It was decided that Ammanullah Khan shall be the life time Supreme Head (SH) of Jammu JKLF, while Yasin Malik shall be running the overall organizational as well as the affairs of movement leading a 19 member committee with proportionately divided representation from every zone.
