PULWAMA — The National Investigating Agency (NIA) has set free a youth from southern Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

Manzoor Ahmed Bhat, a resident of Tula Bagh Pampore, was arrested by NIA in connection with the deadly Lethpora attack that killed over 40 CRPF personnel.

He was also arrested for his alleged links with militant outfit Jaish-e-Muhammad. Police had also recovered a vehicle that belonged to a slain Jaish militant. However, during questioning at Jammu, he proved innocent and was set free by the NIA.

Meanwhile, NIA questioned a detainee Muhammad Yousuf Chopan, a driver by profession. Yousuf, a resident of Midoora Tral has been arrested by Awantipora Police and is involved in a case vide FIR number 49/2019, under sections 18, 19, 20 and 48 of the Unlawful Activities Act.

He is currently facing detention under the Public Safety Act at Kotbalwal Jail and was brought to Police Station Awantipora for questioning.

Reports said that Yousuf was questioned by NIA in connection with militancy-related cases.
