AWANTIPORA — A youth lost his life, while another was injured in a road accident near Awantipora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Monday.
The accident occurred when a Vespa scooter, bearing registration number JK02AS/3545 collided with a Tata mobile bearing registration number JK01AD/4026 at Srinagar-Jammu highway near Nambal, Charsoo area of Awantipora on Monday morning, resulting in the death of the pillion rider – a 25-year-old youth and injuries to the scooter driver.
While confirming the death of the youth, a police official identified the deceased youth as Mukhtar Ahmad Hajam, son of Abdul Khaliq Hajam, a resident of Goripora area of Pulwama.
“Hajam died on the spot, while the injured person has been admitted in the hospital, where he is undergoing treatment,” the official added.
“When the accident occurred, the scooter was driven by Mohammad Jamal son of Ghulam Ahmad Dar, a resident of Lalpora Chatlam Pampore, who sustained injuries in the accident and is undergoing treatment in the hospital,” he said.
Meanwhile, police have registered a case regarding the accident in which the youth was killed and are investigating the matter.
