LEH — Talks between Ladakh’s leadership and the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, expected to take place on Thursday, have reportedly been postponed after local representatives did not receive a formal invitation for the meeting.

The proposed discussions were expected to focus on Ladakh’s long-standing demands for constitutional safeguards and an institutional framework to ensure greater representation and protection for the region.

The Leh Apex Body and other representatives have been seeking progress on these demands following earlier rounds of negotiations with the Centre. The reported absence of a confirmed meeting has added to uncertainty over the next stage of the dialogue.

The reported postponement comes amid wider political and administrative developments in Ladakh, including the dissolution of the Kargil Hill Council and the announcement of panchayat elections for November 21.
