
SRINAGAR — IAS officer PK Pole was on Thursday appointed as the new chief electoral officer of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
According to the news agency KDC, PK Pole, a 2004-batch IAS (AGMUT) officer of Jammu and Kashmir, was selected from a panel of names sent by the J&K administration to the EC.
In an order on Thursday, the Election Commission of India formally appointed PK Poly as the chief electoral officer of Jammu and Kashmir. Pole will take over the charge until further orders in place of Hirdesh Kumar.
According to the order, the officer shall cease to hold and hand over forthwith the charge of all or any charges of work under the Government of Jammu and Kashmir, which he may be holding before such assumption of office.
The Commission has directed that the officer, while functioning as the chief electoral officer Jammu and Kashmir, shall not hold any charge whatsoever under the Government of Jammu and Kashmir except that he should be designated Secretary to the Government in charge of the Election department to the State Secretariat.
