Budgam: Government Middle School Wagoora, a lab school in central Kashmir’s Budgam district observed a week-long Cleanliness Awareness Drive (CAD) as per the order issued by Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DESK).

The initiative is aimed to create awareness among common people and sensitize them about the importance of cleanliness in our lives.

Students and teachers of both the schools actively participated in this week-long CAD which was observed from March 20 to March 26.

The six-day programme commenced on March 20 with the cleaning of school premises. Both the students as well as the teachers actively participated in the programme from the very beginning.

The drive was followed by plantation drive in which several saplings were being planted in the school premises.

Poster and painting competition at school and zonal level was organised on day three of the drive in which students made paintings and posters on diverse topics signifying the cleanliness and its importance in one’s life.

On the next day, rallies and placard shows were organised in the locality during which students were seen holding placards and raising slogans, emphasizing the need for cleanliness. A seminar on the fifth day of this drive was also organised.

The drive concluded with a valedictory function and award distribution ceremony on March 26 in which different students were awarded for showing their best performance in various activities during this drive.

“The motive behind organizing such drives is only to aware common people regarding cleanliness”, Pir Aijaz Ahmad, Headmaster, Government Middle School Wagoora said after recalling ‘Cleanliness is half of the faith’, a famous saying of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
