SRINAGAR — Ms. Nigeen Akhtar, the District Development Council (DDC) member from Chitragam in Shopian district on Sunday joined Apni Party at its office in Lal Chowk Srinagar.
The newly elected DDC member joined the Apni Party in presence of Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari and Party District President Pulwama, Ghulam Mohammad Mir, who welcomed her into the party-fold.
Ms Akhtar contested DDC elections from Chitragam territorial constituency in Shopian and won with comfortable margins.
Upon her joining, she pledged to work with utmost zeal and zest for the welfare of people in her constituency, besides strengthening the Apni Party at the grassroots level in her area.
“I am thankful to the Almighty Allah and then to the people of my constituency who extended their full support and ensured my comfortable win. I am joining the Apni Party after analyzing its agenda and the ability to bring the much needed change on the ground in Jammu and Kashmir,” she observed.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Bukhari said that it is heartening that the Apni Party has been able to gain the public trust and confidence in a short span of time, since its formation some nine months ago.
He reiterated that the Apni Party is committed for an equitable development of all the regions and sub-regions of J&K that will guarantee an equal opportunity to each citizen to have a prosperous life.
“I wholeheartedly welcome Ms Akhtar in this party and hope that she will put in her efforts to fulfill almost all the promises she has made with the people of her constituency,” he remarked.
