SRINAGAR — Former Srinagar Municipal Corporation Commissioner Gazanfar Ali is gearing up to contest Assembly elections as an Independent candidate.

Known for his dedication, hard work, honesty, and efficiency, Ali held several senior positions throughout his career including Deputy Commissioner, Director of Rural Development, Director of Handicrafts, Director of Social Welfare, Special Secretary to the Government in various departments, and Commissioner of Srinagar Municipal Corporation. He retired in 2020 as Director General, Youth Services & Sports, J&K.

Ali’s influence extends beyond his administrative expertise; he is also a well-respected social influencer and political analyst with a strong following among both the Shia and Sunni communities. His charismatic leadership and energetic approach have left a lasting impact on the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

In light of his reputation and strong community ties, Ali’s associates and supporters have urged him to contest the upcoming Assembly elections. Responding to this call, Ali is expected to run as an Independent candidate from the Lal Chowk and Chadoora constituencies.
