NEW DELHI — Amid intense parliamentary uproar surrounding the aftermath of ‘Operation Sindoor’ and the recent militant attack in Pahalgam, Congress leader and Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra launched a scathing critique of the government, accusing it of misleading the public with false claims of peace and security in Kashmir.

In her hard-hitting speech delivered during the Lok Sabha session, Priyanka Gandhi questioned the Union Government’s narrative of victory against Pakistan, stating that “propaganda of peace” lured nearly 1600 tourists to Kashmir’s Baisaran valley, where 26 of them were later gunned down in a brutal militant ambush.

“The government boasted about restoring peace in the Valley and painted a picture of safety to attract tourists. But the bloodbath in Pahalgam exposed the reality. For a full hour after the attack, not a single security official reached the site. What happened to the so-called high security arrangements?” she asked.

Priyanka directly held the Prime Minister and Home Minister accountable for the security lapse, asserting that both should take moral and political responsibility for the loss of innocent lives.

Joining the chorus, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge launched a blistering attack on the ruling dispensation, calling the handling of the Pahalgam tragedy “shambolic” and demanding the resignation of the Prime Minister. “How many more lives must be lost before the nation sees accountability from the top?” Kharge asked.
