Amid the COVID-19 lockdown and closure of educational institutions in the Valley, a community school has come up in a remote village in southern Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

The government is set to evacuate the residents of Jammu & Kashmir who are stranded in Pakistan due to lockdown imposed in both the countries to control the spread of deadly COVID-19.

Jammu and Kashmir government is mulling to re-open tourist spots and gardens across Union Territory soon as hectic deliberations are on to frame Standard Operating Procedure (SoPs) for smooth entry of people.

It sounds strange that authorities are allowing business to function smoothly in southern Hill Station Pahalgam but demanding COVID-19 negative certificate from anglers.

Kashmir transporters on Thursday staged a protest to urge the government to allow the local transporters resume their services too as they have faced huge losses since lockdown was enforced in the Valley in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic.

Residents of Pulwama are demanding restoration of SRTC bus service between Srinagar and Pulwama via New Khanda, saying that they are facing difficulties, due to the continued suspension of service between the two important destinations of Kashmir valley.

Kashmir has been witnessing lockdown virtually since August 05 last year. Our reporter visited the houses of some drivers who are finding it really hard to meet their both ends.

No doubt, this is one of the few options to curb the deadly virus but it is the need of the hour to swoon into some new age. Certainly, it seems like trudging along the road in a grimy wayside but this is the only option.
