In view of the restoration of roads in Srinagar city after recent floods, the Traffic Police Department has formulated a route plan for certain routes.

Declaring 10 colleges as worst hit by the floods, the State’s Ministry of Higher Education has sent a note to the Cabinet recommending postponing of all examinations.

The recent floods have dealt a heavy blow to Kashmir’s higher education sector with losses amounting to over Rs 100 crores and most of colleges are still non-functional.

While the floods in the state devastated life and property, it also washed away an anxious bride’s dream in Varmul town on September 7.

At a time when flood-hit Srinagar is craving for relief, officials in Jammu district administration have been grabbing the lot meant for the summer capital.

A 45-year-old woman Jameela Begum (Khala) wife of Muhammad Yousuf Bhat of Gulshan Ali Shalimar was allegedly stabbed to death by her neighbours during a scuffle.

The death toll in floods in Jammu and Kashmir has risen to 300 and the toll may rise as hundreds of people are missing in the State.

More than 75 families belonging to different areas of Srinagar have erected tents in the middle of the pavement of the highway to provide shelter to their families.
