NEW DELHI — Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday flagged off the Amritsar–Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Vande Bharat train.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister for dedicating the new Vande Bharat service between Amritsar and Katra, saying it will ensure ease of travel for devotees and accelerate local economic growth.

The LG noted that J&K’s transport infrastructure, particularly in railways, has witnessed unprecedented growth under the leadership of the Prime Minister.

He highlighted that the first freight train reached Anantnag from Punjab on August 9, marking a major milestone in Kashmir’s transport and trade sectors.

The 26406 Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra–Amritsar Vande Bharat Express will depart from Katra at 6:40 AM to reach Amritsar at 12:20 PM on the same day. In the return direction, the 26405 Amritsar–Katra service will depart at 4:25 PM and reach Katra at 10:00 PM, operating six days a week except Tuesday.
