TAAK welcomes Union Minister’s initiative of Train to Kashmir

Srinagar: President of Travel Agents Association of Kashmir (TAAK), Manzoor Sidiq in a statement issued to here said that Union Railway Minister’s latest initiative to revive the project of train to Kashmir is very good news for the Kashmir tourism industry.

Union Minister for Railways, Suresh Prabhu in an interaction with some state Government ministers recently had said that Indian Railways is taking steps to connect Jammu and Kashmir State with rest of the country through railway line starting from the northern district of Baramulla. The Minister in his interaction had said that the project which was left in limbo has been fast paced by holding regular periodical meetings about its implementation besides providing the requisite funds for it.

TAAK has always been of the opinion that Tourism industry will flourish and set records if the connectivity is prioritized, Manzoor Sidiq said.

He said that the biggest concern Kashmir tourism industry is facing right now is the road connectivity. When Kashmir is connected with rest of the country through Railways, Kashmir will receive tourists in large numbers, he said.

He called upon the Union Minister for Railways, Suresh Prabhu to run special trains to Jammu in peak season so that a number of people who can’t afford exorbitant airfares will get an opportunity to visit Kashmir.
