PULWAMA — A tragic incident unfolded in Puchal area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Wednesday as a 28-year-old youth was found hanging inside his room.

According to sources, the deceased, who was identified as Syed Asrar Andrabi of Qasimabad Puchal village, was found hanging in his home during the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday. Family members immediately rushed him to the District Hospital Pulwama, but medical personnel declared him deceased upon arrival.

The sources revealed that the young man had been battling depression for several days, following his failure to pass the Junior Engineer (JE) examination recently. The margin of his failure was very minimal but it was fate.

In response to the incident, authorities have initiated inquest proceedings under Section 174 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CRPC), launching an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.

The local community, especially the deceased’s family, friends and relatives, has been deeply affected by the loss, emphasizing the urgency of addressing mental health issues among youth and the need for greater support systems in such challenging times.
