Srinagar, Feb 06: Terming as unjustified the police action against youth who published and uploaded their comments on social media websites, Hurriyat Conference (G) spokesman today said that authorities are making mountain out of a mole hill.
He said it is a deliberate and manipulated attempt by Delhi to deviate people’s attention from ongoing freedom struggle in Kashmir.
Terming the police action as undesired the spokesman said, “It was common that different reviews and subjects related with different personalities are being uploaded on social media, but nowhere in any part of world is treated as offensive or against the law and added neither any person is prosecuted nor exaggerations to such an extent is permitted”.
Terming the police action against the youth as an undue restriction on freedom of expression he said that tall claims of being a democratic state have been ridiculous.
The spokesman asked SSP Srinagar to come clear on the case and asked as to why similar cases were not registered against the then speaker Mohammad Akbar Lone and PDP leader Molvi Iftikhar Ansari who exchanged the nonsense and absurd words against one another.
The spokesman accused national media of maintaining criminal silence over the gruesome killing of Wamiq Farooq, Zahid Farooq, Tufail Matoo and other innocents “and contrary to it, Indian media made hue and cry over publishing simple account uploaded by some youth”.
“They exaggerate every such thing and there is no doubt that they do not follow any standard. Their reporting is always biased as regards with Kashmir freedom movement. They, in order to provide shield and justify the arbitrary actions perpetrated by Indian forces, report in a biased manner”, the spokesman added.
