Srinagar: All Jammu & Kashmir Students Union has termed the violence in Government Degree College Pulwama as a vicious act of security forces.
In a Press Release emailed to The Kashmir Pulse, the organisation has expressed anguish over the incident, where scores of students were injured.
AJKSU spokesperson Aasif Wani strongly condemned what he called ‘vicious act of forces’ against the student community. “Such acts should be strictly checked so as to avoid student community being involved in violence and preventing them from becoming outlaws”, said Junaid Dar, In-Charge, AJKSU.
“Using pellets and teargas shells against students in a college is sheer brutality on part of the largest democracy and is highly deplorable. We will not tolerate brutalities done against our people in general and student community in particular”, the statement further reads.
“We respect humanity and our youth has proven that by protecting CRPF men during last Sunday’s by-polls in Srinagar-Budgam constituency and leaving them unhurt. Media should show that side of Kashmir as well”, said the AJKSU spokesperson.
“This incident at Degree College Pulwama has terrorised student community and many students have expressed insecurity inside educational institutions of the valley. Security forces involved in the activity should be strictly dealt with otherwise this will adversely affect the system and intensify the anger of youth, which is already on peak”, adds Javeed Bin Nabi, General Secretary, AJKSU.
AJKSU has appealed students of all educational institutions in the state to protest against this incident.
