JAMMU — A day after J-K Government called in Army to run essential services in Jammu, especially to take care of power scenario, Janata Dal United (JDU) today said that Army is being deployed during calamity and not to counter government employees.

President JDU, GM Shaheen said that instead of conceding to genuine demands of Power Development Department employees, government deployed Army in Jammu to counter them, which is undemocratic in nature.

“India is a democratic country where Army is used as a last resort. Deploying Army to counter government employees speaks volumes about the intent and policy of the UT Government,” Shaheen told news agency Kashmir News Trust.

He said grievances of the employees should be resolved amicably in a democratic set up.

Shaheen also demanded that Kashmiri Pandits should also be given representation and at least two constituencies should be reserved for them.
