Srinagar, Dec 15: Hurriyat Conference (G) Thursday ridiculed as “hilarious” Minister of State for Home Nasir Aslam Wani’s statement that the state government had nothing to do with the seizure of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat calendars and the amalgam’s chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani had reposed faith in Indian judiciary by deciding to take the issue to court.
“The Indian judiciary has not yet proved itself to be impartial. However, with Kashmir being under Indian occupation, just as we are forced to use Indian currency, approaching the Indian judiciary in some matters is also a compulsion for us,” a spokesman of the amalgam said.
By admitting that the state government had nothing to do with the seizure of Tehreek-Hurriyat calendars, Nasir Aslam Wani had only testified to the fact that the affairs of Jammu and Kashmir are run by the Indian Home Ministry through police and army, the spokesman said.
“The order to seize Tehreek’s calendars must have been issued by the Intelligence Bureau Director and like others, Nasir Aslam Wani would have read it in newspapers ,” the spokesman said.
“Pro-freedom people have always been victims of the political vendetta of National Conference, and New Delhi has assigned this party the job of spying on the activities of pro-freedom leaders,” the spokesman said.
“Seizure of calendars is a small issue. The Indian judiciary has failed to provide justice to thousands of victims of State terrorism in Kashmir like Nazim Rashid, Asiya and Neelofar and others, or the scores of innocent Kashmiris languishing in jails in and outside Kashmir in miserable conditions,” he said.
He said that knocking the door of courts was mere compulsion for the amalgam “as long Indian occupation continues”.
“Just as we are forced to use Indian currency, approaching the Indian judiciary in same manner is also a compulsion for us,” he said, adding, “It doesn’t mean that we repose faith on the system or any of its organs or we hope to get justice.
