JAMMU — Union Minister of State for Home, G Kishen Reddy on Sunday said that the Government of India has managed to curb infiltration and militancy stands controlled in Jammu and Kashmir.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the inauguration of (Swami Venkateshwar Temple) Balaji Temple in Jammu, the MoS Home said that in the past two years, the situation has changed across India and J&K.

“We have managed to curb infiltration and militancy stands controlled in J&K. Not more than a couple of incidents of violence were reported in India including J&K in the past two years,” Reddy said.

He said that Covid slowed down the process of development in J&K. “There was a visit of 36 union ministers to J&K earlier, but Covid played a spoilsport. Developmental projects got a hit due to the pandemic but once the pandemic ends, we will take J&K UT to new heights on the development front,” the Union MoS Home said.

He said pilgrims who would visit Mata Vaishno Devi in Katra will also have an opportunity to visit Balaji Temple and pay obeisance here as well.

Sources said that Reddy will chair a security review meeting at Raj Bhawan Jammu before flying back to New Delhi later this afternoon.
