Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Thursday said that in the changing world scenario, New Delhi can’t keep Kashmir issue in cold storage for long and urged for a ‘meaningful’ dialogue to solve the vexed issue.
“Government of India is trying to put Kashmir issue in cold storage as status quo suits it. However, in the changing world scenario, India can never solve Kashmir issue by force,” Mirwaiz said while addressing a seminar at Hurriyat headquarters here.
Urging New Delhi to start a meaningful dialogue he said, “By keeping Kashmir issue linger on, New Delhi can achieve nothing. Government of India has no other option but to solve the Kashmir dispute,” he added.
The Hurriyat (M) chairman said that New Delhi should know that the movement has been transformed to the younger generation. “Peoples movement of 2008 and 2010 has transformed the freedom movement to younger generation,” he said.
The Mirwaiz said that Hurriyat would always welcome Indo-Pak dialogue as friendship between the two countries is in the best interests of Kashmiris. “But India should make sincere and honest efforts to solve the issue once for all. Hurriyat is ready to work as a bridge between the two countries, but for that change on ground situation is must. We are not against business between the two countries, but Kashmir issue is the most important,” he added.
