SRINAGAR — The Jammu and Kashmir Government has sanctioned the “Jammu and Kashmir Chief Ministers Free LPG Scheme”, under which eligible Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) households will receive six free domestic LPG refills every year.
According to an official order issued by the Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA), the decision follows approval by the Council of Ministers through Decision No. 123/11/2026 dated Sept. 10, 2026, as reported by news agency KNS.
Under the scheme, six free LPG refills will be provided to each eligible AAY family every year.
The benefit will be available in addition to any other benefits admissible under existing Government of India schemes, according to the order.
The scheme will remain applicable for a period of four years.
The administration has restricted the scheme exclusively to eligible AAY households. Beneficiary verification will be carried out through the Aadhaar Enabled Public Distribution System (AePDS) database maintained by the FCS&CA Department, J&K.
The government has also directed that appropriate safeguards be put in place to prevent duplication and claims from ineligible beneficiaries.
While sanction for the scheme has been accorded, the detailed implementation modalities will be issued separately after due vetting and approval by the Competent Authority, the order states.
