SRINAGAR — A special team of National Investigation Agency (NIA) Monday conducted raids at several locations in northern Kashmir’s Kupwara district in connection with an arrested local Hizb militant last month.
Officials said that on Monday morning, a special team of NIA conducted raids at Jagerpora hamlet and at the residence of apprehended local militant who according to police was in touch with various militant outfits in the past.
An official who was part of the team said that the special team this morning reached Jagerpora and raided the house of a local youth whose identity wasn’t revealed.
“After conducting raids at Jagerpora, the team appeared at the residence of apprehended militant, Fayaz Ahmad Mir, son of Sanuallah Mir, resident of Bumhama in connection with his links with different militant organization,” he said.
Sources divulged that the special team recovered a laptop, two mobile phones, two pen-drives and five passports from the residence of one Javaid Ahmad Dar, a resident of Jagerpora Kupwara.
Moreover, the official said that more details about the seizure and recoveries are with the NIA team and haven’t been disclosed so far.
Fayaz was arrested at his residence on January 30 this year along with an AK-47, a magazine and over two dozen of bullets. He was arrested during a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) launched jointly by Army, CRPF and Police.
