Academic arrangement lecturers rue termination of their services

SRINAGAR — Academic arrangement lecturers on Monday staged a protest against the termination of their services in Jammu and Kashmir.

Scores of lecturers assembled here in Press Enclave Srinagar and said that after the abrogation of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir, the government terminated their services which really shocked them. They demanded immediate revocation of the controversial government order.

The protesting lecturers said that they were engaged on academic arrangements but the government recently issued an order terminating their services, thus depriving them of the due pay.

“We had thought the government would open up new employment opportunities after the annulment of special status but the contrary happened in Jammu and Kashmir. The termination of our services is a grave injustice towards us,” they said.

Shouting slogans and carrying placards in support of their demand for revocation of the controversial government order, the protesting lecturers vowed to continue their struggle till the government revokes its order with regard to the termination of their services.
