Two more militants killed, toll four in Kulgam gunfight

KULGAM — Four militants were killed in a brief shootout in Asthal village of Kulgam.

Police sources said that militants this evening attacked patrolling party of 9 RR in Asthal village of Kulgam. Government forces retaliated, resulting in the encounter. Four militants were killed in the exchange of fire.

One Army officer identified as Major Patel has also received bullet injury. Sources said that the officer received bullet in the leg and was shifted to hospital for treatment.

Identification of the slain militants is being ascertained.
