SRINAGAR — Hundreds of people from Jammu and Kashmir stuck in Union Territory of Pondicherry (officially called Puducherry) have appealed for their evacuation.

The aggrieved people have been making repeated requests the authorities in the UT administration to take steps for their return but nothing substantial has happened in their case.

According to them, “The government is not serious for our evacuation. We spoke to Nodal Officer, Mr Zubair in Kashmir regarding the scheduled train but he said that the train from Tamil Nadu to Udhampur has been cancelled again.”

“I fail to understand why this is happening again and again. I request the authorities to intervene in this matter so that we can reach our homes where our families are waiting for us,” said Irfan, one of the youth among them.

He added, “The temperature here is such that our small and infant children can’t go out. We are especially worried for their health.”

The authorities, according to them, have been playing blame game only. “Both the UT administration officials have been asking us to get in touch with the other, but amid all this, we continue to suffer here,” another man said over phone.
