Gunfight breaks out in Malabagh area of Srinagar

SRINAGAR — A gunfight broke out between militants and government forces in Malabagh area of central Kashmir’s Srinagar district on Thursday evening.

A joint team of Police and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search-operation in Malabagh.

As the joint team approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them. The fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off an encounter.

A senior Police officer also confirmed about the exchange of firing between militants and forces in the area. He added that a CRPF personnel has been injured in the ongoing encounter, and shifted to nearby hospital.
