
SRINAGAR — Jammu and Kashmir on Monday recorded the death of nine more lives, all from Kashmir region, taking the total number of people who died of the dreaded virus in the UT to 485.
Officials said that nine patients who died include a 47-year-old man from Rainawari, a 45-year-old man from Palpora Srinagar, a 55-year-old man from Arampora Ganderbal, a 65-year-old woman from Budgam, a 65-year- old man from Chidibugh Tral, a 70-year-old woman from Buchoo Tral, an 85-year-old man from Palpora Kulgam, a 78-year-old man from Safa Kadal Srinagar and a 60-year-old man from Shalimar Srinagar.
An official at SKIMS said that a 45-year-old man from Palpora, Srinagar who was admitted on July 21 died on Monday. He further said that a 55-year-old man from Arampora Ganderbal who was admitted on August 06 died on Monday.
An official from SMHS said that a 47-year-old man from Rainawari Srinagar who was admitted with bilateral pneumonia on August 1 died on Sunday late night.
He added that a 65-year-old woman from Budgam who was admitted on July 23 with bilateral pneumonia died on Monday morning. He added that a 65-year-old man from Tral who was admitted on August 1 with bilateral pneumonia died on Monday.
He further added that a 70-year-old woman from Buchoo, Tral who was admitted with community acquired pneumonia died late last night.
A 60-year-old man from Shalimar was admitted with pneumonia on August 05 died on Monday, he said, adding that a 78-year-old man from Braripora Safa Kadal Srinagar who was admitted on August 1 with blood pressure, hypertension and viral pneumonia also died on Monday.
An official from District Hospital Kulgam said that an 85-year-old man from Palpora Kulgam was brought to hospital in a very sick condition on Sunday and was kept on Oxygen. However, his condition deteriorated further and he died a few hours after being admitted at the hospital, he said, adding that he tested positive for COVID-19.
“The patient was suffering from diabetes, hypertension and other ailments,” the official said.
With nine more deaths, the death toll in J&K has reached to 485 including 449 from Kashmir division and 35 from Jammu division.
