SRINAGAR — PDP President and former chief minister of J&K, Mehbooba Mufti on Thursday accused armed forces of rigging elections in south Kashmir’s Shopian in pretext of search for militants.
Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, Mehbooba said, “Security forces have cordoned Matribugh in Shopian & are not allowing people to come out to vote under the pretext of inputs about presence of militants. In a brazen display of power, armed forces are being used to rig this election & favour a particular party.”
Pertinently, the fifth phase of DDC polls is underway in 37 constituencies across J&K, with tight security measures in place.
Reports reaching here said that brisk polling is underway amid bone chilling cold and COVID-19 pandemic.
