SRINAGAR — The Quran burning incident in Sweden sparked a protest in Kashmir capital Srinagar after Friday prayers.
Protesters led by Syed Abid Rizvi, a cleric from an Abi Guzar Masjid, assembled in the Press Enclave and raised slogans against Danish anti-Islam lunatic Rasmus Paludan who had set a copy of the holy Quran on fire outside the Turkish Embassy in Stockholm.
One of the protesters said: “We condemn Sweden’s state-supported Islamophobia. Our Prophet (PBUH) and the holy Quran are our honour and no Muslim can tolerate such fanaticism.”
Another protester said that the act of burning the holy Quran should not be considered an act protected by the right of free expression.
The protesters, after registering their protest, dispersed peacefully.
