Jammu: Forty-two new degree colleges will be opened across the state in a phased manner, the Jammu and Kashmir government said on Tuesday.

The decision to open new colleges was taken in a meeting of the State Administrative Council (SAC) chaired by Governor Satya Pal Malik on January 14, 2019. The new colleges would come up in uncovered areas of all 22 districts, an official spokesperson said.

In Budgam the new college will come up in Chadoora.

Hanji and Ajas has been identified for new colleges in Bandipora, Thindim Kreei, Dangiwacha and Bomai in Baramulla, Pahalgam-Siligam\Aishmuqam, Chittisinghpora, Verinag, Mattan in Anantnag have been identified for new colleges.

Similarly, Drass in Kargil, Nagrota, Marh, Kunjwani and Sidhra in Jammu, Ramkote and Marheen in Kathua, Padder in Kishtwar have been identified for new colleges.

Vilgam and Langate in Kupwara, Homeshalibaugh and Qazigund in Kulgam, Khalsi in Leh, Mandi in Poonch, Awantipora in Pulwama are the identified places for the colleges to come up at.

While as Doongi Kallir and Kotranka in Rajouri, Batote and Ukhral in Ramban, Pouni in Reasi, Vijaypur, Purmandal and Ramghar in Samba have been identified as the places for new colleges to be built at.

On the similar lines, Zanipora and Wachi in Shopian, Hyderpora, Allochibagh and Idgha in Srinagar, Chenani, Neeli Nalaha, Dudu-Basantghar and Katra in Udhumpur are the identified places for the new colleges.
