Jammu: The J&K Board of School Education (JKBOSE) will continue with its criteria fixed for affiliation, upgradation and renewal of affiliation of private educational institutes of Jammu and Kashmir divisions.
In 2016, the Board was criticised for allegedly giving affiliation to private schools wherein a majority of these lacked basic infrastructural facilities, including playgrounds, science laboratories for conducting experiments and adequate classrooms, etc.
Following that, the then JKBOSE chairman, Professor Zahoor Ahmad Chatt, had decided to conduct a physical verification of the schools in order to verify the claims. A criterion was fixed for granting affiliation to private schools after they fulfill the mandatory requirements. It was decided that after the expiry of the period, a fresh inspection will be conducted by the Board to extend the affiliation.
Sources said recently, more than 30 educational institutes in Jammu Division having infrastructural deficiencies were not allowed to run the classes by JKBOSE. They were asked to get safety certificates.
