J&K’s Universities & Colleges to reopen in February

SRINAGAR — Officials on Thursday said that teaching in universities and college-level educational institutions in Jammu and Kashmir would start from February 1.

The winter vacation of colleges in the winter zone of Jammu province ends on January 31, while the winter vacation of colleges in the Kashmir Valley and summer zone ends on February 14.

According to Secretary Higher Education Department, Talat Pervez, classes for college level students in Jammu will start on February 1, while as classes of college-level students in Kashmir Valley will start from February 15.

The order issued in this regard reads that all the Universities, Colleges and Polytechnics in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir will reopen for formal class work from February 1.

He further said that the Corona Protocol will be strictly followed during the teaching process and every precaution will be taken in this regard.

It is to be noted that the said institutes are already working for examinations and other administrative matters but the teaching work has been suspended for more or less a year.

The government had already decided to open schools and take up the task of teaching and orders have been issued in this regard. The teaching process in all types of educational institutions in Jammu and Kashmir has been stopped from March last year.
