KU hosts online international cultural exchange

Srinagar, Apr 03: With a hope to promote peace and harmony through art and international cultural exchange, Kashmir Art Quest in collaboration with Department of Students Welfare, KU and KAPPA-PI Northwest Missouri State University Maryville United States organised an online conference at the Ibn-i-Khaldun auditorium, University of Kashmir. The programme was attended by artists simultaneously at University Campus and at the Olive De Luce Gallery, Northwest Missouri State University USA. Inaugurating the event Vice Chancellor Kashmir University Prof Talat said that he was thrilled to see the response of the people to the online conference all over the world which provides a platform to the artists to reach out to the world through digital media. “To promote peace through art is a wonderful idea and such events create an artistic and international cultural exchange through digital media to symbolically cross borders. The University strives to create awareness about art by providing a platform for artists to communicate and in future we will host more such programs and events,” he said. “Under such initiatives artists will have an opportunity to exchange ideas, thoughts, artworks, influences, resolutions, personal experiences, ambitions, projects, proposals etc with an aim of creating permanent art education links, student exchange programs and creating scholarships for the deserving best,” Prof Talat said. In his on-line address from USA Director North West Missouri State University USA said “We believe that the state of arts in a society strongly influences and drives its intellectual, cultural and aesthetic evolution. We are aware of the immense art talent in the state, where art was once one of the backbone economies and strongly believes in the potential of artists of Kashmir on an international level.” “Our aim is to create a progressive culture of peace and harmony by bringing various sectors under the dynamic umbrella of art,” he added. Earlier in her welcome address to the participants on both sides Prof Nilofar Khan spelled out the importance of the concept of art for social change and said that art can raise great awareness about the issues confronting our society at present.
