PULWAMA — Amid steep surge in COVID-19 cases, the district administration in Pulwama has advised people to cooperate with them as whatever steps are being taken at district level or divisional level are for the betterment of public.

Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, Chaudhary Baseer-ul-Haq in a press conference said that the situation with regard to Coronavirus in the district is under control and has started to get stabilised. He said that the number of positive patients has started to decrease while as the death rate is also declining.

“My goal is to save people’s lives as they are precious than anything and our request to the people will be to continue following Covid-appropriate behaviour to beat this deadly pandemic,” the DC Pulwama said, adding, “Imposing restrictions is not to hurt people financially but to keep them and their nears and dears away from this pandemic.”

He further stated that next 10 days are crucial as if people continue to follow precautions and SoPs in letter and spirit, the Covid graph will definitely decline and “we may be able to resume our activities again.”

District Commissioner Pulwama said that at present there are 2800 cases in the district while the recovery rate has increased to 80 per cent. He said that there is no attempt to create fear but there is no alternative to following Covid-appropriate behavior and if anyone comes positive, he should not panic but contact authorities to get treatment.

Meanwhile, a private industrial company located in Lassipora industrial area of the district donated an ambulance equipped with modern equipment to District Hospital Pulwama in presence of District Development Commissioner Pulwama.

The District Development Commissioner Pulwama formally inaugurated the ambulance in the presence of CMO Pulwama and the Chairman of the private industrial company and handed over the ambulance to CMO District Hospital Pulwama.

On the occasion, DDC said that this ambulance can be of great use to the people in this difficult time of COVID-19 and this step of this organization is commendable.

He said that other organizations should also come forward and help the people in this difficult time, so as get rid of pandemic.

It is pertinent to mention here that this ambulance was donated by Al-Noor Agri Fresh Company.
