Islamabad: Pakistani Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani is expected to meet his Indian counterpart Manmohan Singh on the sidelines of the 17th South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Summit in Maldives in November, sources have said.
The Nation quoted the sources as saying that this weeks’ meeting between the Foreign Secretaries would be followed by Foreign Ministers’ talks in July.
While the Foreign Secretaries are set to discuss Kashmir, security, confidence building measures, and promotion of friendly exchanges, the Foreign Ministers would reportedly focus on the ‘Siachen territorial conflict and visa issues.
The sources also claimed that Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar might lead the Pakistani delegation to the Ministerial talks between India and Pakistan, apparently in the last week of July.
‘After the Ministerial moot followed by Secretary-level talks, the two countries’ relevant officials would start working for a meeting between Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani and his Indian counterpart Manmohan Singh,” the sources added.
The SAARC Summit will be held from November 10-11 this year.
