Aspirants cry foul over JKP Telecommunication and Photography exam results

SRINAGAR — Hours after the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) announced the results of the JKP Constable Telecommunication and Photography exams, aspirants have cried foul, alleging major irregularities and questioning the transparency of the selection process.

A delegation of aspirants, quoted by the Srinagar-based news gathering agency KDC, said that candidates who topped the Telecommunication and Photography exams had alarmingly poor scores, some even in the negative marking zone, in the earlier JKP (Executive/Armed/SDRF) paper, which they described as easier in comparison.

“How is it possible for someone who scored zero or negative marks in a simpler paper to suddenly excel in a highly technical and difficult exam? This defies logic and fairness,” an aspirant said.

Another aspirant said, “It feels like a mockery of our efforts. The integrity of the process is clearly in question, and we deserve answers.”

Accusing the JKSSB of jeopardizing their future, the aspirants have appealed to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to intervene, cancel the results, and conduct a fresh, fair examination.

Supporting their concerns, PDP leader Iltija Mufti tweeted, “JKSSB continues jeopardizing the future of J&K’s youth. Massive discrepancies in the JKP Telecommunications exam where ‘toppers’ fared poorly in the previously held constable exams. The government that rose to power by making lofty promises has conveniently washed its hands of any accountability.”

The delegation stressed the emotional and mental strain caused by the controversy. “We are disheartened and feel betrayed. If merit is overlooked, trust in the system will collapse,” one aspirant lamented.

The aggrieved candidates have called for an immediate investigation into the alleged discrepancies and demanded a transparent recruitment process to restore public confidence.

Pertinently, this was the first major recruitment drive since 2019, and the exams were held on December 1, 8, and 22, 2024. A total of 4,002 vacancies were announced for these posts. The selection process comprises a written exam, followed by physical and medical tests.
