SRINAGAR — The cry for the rationalization of reservation policy has been growing shrill with each passing day. Netizens have been asking the government to stop advertising posts till the reservation issue is resolved.
The MLA Tral Rafiq Ahmad Naik appealed to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to revisit the new reservation policy and align it strictly with population proportions. He expressed surprise and said that out of 575 new posts the government sent to the Public Service Commission, 337 posts are reserved.
“The party that promised rationalization of Reservation Policy has referred +2 posts to JKPSC under the existing unjust New Reservation Policy,” wrote a netizen.
Notably, during the poll campaign, the Member Parliament and National Conference senior leader Rahullah Mehdi repeatedly assured the youth that his party would revisit the reservation policy.
In August this year, while highlighting the NC’s manifesto, Rahullah Mehdi as per the news agency KNT took to a social blogging site and wrote: “The reservation policy will be reviewed and any injustice and imbalance will be corrected.”
PDP legislator Waheed Para also requested Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to revamp the new reservation policy strictly as per population numbers.
He said out of 575 lecturer posts referred to JKPSC for recruitment, only 238 are for open merit students, while 337 are reserved. “This injustice needs to stop,” Para said, adding that he fails to understand why the NC-led government continues with BJP’s introduced reservation policy.
The majority of the netizens have been vocal about this subject, asking the government to stop new recruitments till the new reservation policy is framed.
