JAMMU — Nearly three weeks after arresting the mastermind behind the 2022 JKSSB sub-inspector recruitment exam paper leak, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has apprehended another absconding accused. A special court has granted the ED five-day custody of the accused, officials said on Thursday.
As per the news agency KNO, Anil Kumar, 31, from Lahroda in Mahendragarh district of Haryana, was arrested by the ED Jammu team on Wednesday under the criminal sections of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). He was produced before the Special Judge, Anti-Corruption (CBI cases) in Jammu this morning.
On June 24, the ED had arrested the alleged mastermind, Yatin Yadav, 43, also from Haryana.
The Jammu and Kashmir Service Selection Board (JKSSB) sub-inspector recruitment exam took place on March 27, 2022. However, in July of the same year, three exams were cancelled in Jammu and Kashmir due to allegations of paper leaks and malpractice. The administration cancelled the selected list of 1,200 candidates along with 1,300 junior engineers and 1,000 finance accounting assistants.
The case, initially investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), led to a chargesheet against 33 accused, including the main accused Yadav, filed on November 12, 2022. The ED’s case was registered following the CBI’s first information report.
