RAMBAN — At least 13 houses and a road stretch of 200 meters were damaged in an incident of ‘land erosion’ at Gool area of Ramban district, officials said on Sunday.
Speaking to the news agency KNO, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Gool, Tanveer-ul-Majeed Wani said a total of 13 houses were damaged and became unfit for living due to the ‘landslide’ at Duksar Dal for the last few days.
He said the affected families have been shifted to safer places, adding that the sliding was happening in the area for the last three days.
He said the road stretch of around 200 meters has also been damaged, which connects Gool with Sangaldan. “Order regarding movement restrictions on the road has been passed after it developed cracks,” he said.
He said today, they have written to Geological Survey of India (GSI) for ascertaining the facts. “The experts team of GSI are visiting the area in the next couple of days to ascertain the reasons behind the landslide,” he said.
Meanwhile, DC Ramban tweeted, “On Duksar landslide, requisition sent for expert advice of geologists to ascertain reasons. Tents & blankets were provided to the affected.”
“Relief cases under SDRF have been expedited. The district administration is committed to rehabilitating the affected,” he said.
